The Irish Maid Cocktail

Celebrate St. Paddy’s Day this year with a cool, refreshing Irish whiskey cucumber honey cocktail. This fun, green drink is a lot tastier than green beer and is sure to impress your guests!

What makes this drink Irish is the Irish whiskey. You can use any Irish whiskey you want but we’d suggest Jameson. Other members of the Maid Family use different liquors. Gin is an Old Maid. Bourbon makes it a Kentucky Maid. These other versions take mint and regular simple syrup instead of cucumber and honey simple syrup.

Honey simple syrup can be hard to come by so you’ll want to make your own. Don’t know how? Don’t worry, we’ll teach you. The process is a lot quicker and easier than you’d think! Check out our post about how to make 15 minute Honey Simple Syrup using our very own Great Lakes Bee Company honey here

Ingredients:

2 oz Irish Whiskey of your choice

1/2 oz Elderflower Liqueur

3/4 oz Lemon Juice

3/4 oz Homemade Honey Simple Syrup

Instructions:

  1. Fill shaker with 2-3 cucumber wheels and muddle.
  2. Add whiskey, liqueur, lemon juice, and your homemade Great Lakes Bee Co. honey simple syrup.
  3. Fill rest of the shaker with ice.
  4. Shake and strain into a rocks glass with ice.
  5. Garnish with fresh cucumber wheel.

The Irish Maid can be found all over online. We first found out about the Irish Maid cocktail from This Worthey Life, a small Michigan business like ourselves. You can find their original directions for this cocktail here. They have plenty of other honey-filled recipes like their Honey Pineapple Salmon or the Citrus Rye Honey Cocktail.
