The Declaration – St. Paddy’s Day Cocktail

For this year’s St.Paddy’s Day, up your mixology game with this Irish cocktail. What makes the drink Irish? Well Irish whiskey, of course! This cocktail is sure to help you celebrate the holiday without all the shots of Jägermeister. Prefer a botanical taste to your cocktails? Check out our recipe for The Irish Maid, which uses elderflower liquor for a light, herbal essence.

To create The Declaration,  you’ll need just a few ingredients, most important being Irish whiskey. You’ll want to pick a middle to top shelf whiskey for this cocktail because of the prominent whiskey flavor.  Esquire’s whiskey choice for this cocktail is the critically acclaimed  Red Breast Whiskey. If you want to put more meaning behind the drink in order to celebrate the holiday, you can pick up a bottle of Proclamation Irish Whiskey, which is named and designed after the 1916 declaration of Ireland’s independence.

This recipe calls for honey simple syrup which is simple and easy to make. Check out our recipe for honey simple syrup using our very own all-natural honey here. The rest of the ingredients can be found in any home bar. You’ll need dry vermouth, fresh lemon juice, bitters, and orange bitters.
